Why health claims online run ahead of the evidence
Health claims often spread faster than the research behind them. Common patterns include:
- An early or small study presented as proof for people.
- Animal or cell results presented as if they were human results.
- A single testimonial presented as typical.
- Urgency, scarcity, or "secret" framing.
A simple check
Ask who made the claim, what study it cites, what kind of study it is (see how health research is reviewed), and whether an independent source confirms it. If a claim has no study behind it, treat it as unverified.
